F.I.R.S.T. (For Immigrants and Refugees Surviving Torture)
Project was established on October 1, 2000 as a partnership between
Catholic Social Service, Heartland Refugee Program, and The Wellness
Center, P.C. We work to heal the wounds of torture and advocate to stop
its practice. We accomplish this goal by providing direct service to
torture survivors, training for health, human services, and education
professionals working with torture survivors and advocacy for public
policy initiatives.
