RollerGirl.ca was founded by Lisa Suggitt (aka RollerGirl) in March 2003.

Lisa has been an avid roller skater since the age of 5. She loves to take her roller skates to the skatepark, for a fast skate around the Seawall, or just play around some smooth concrete with friends and good tunes.

She played roller derby for 10 years, coached the early days of the Terminal City Roller Girls and started the Vancouver chapter of Chicks in Bowls. Lisa is a roller skate fanatic and loves to share her passion with the world.

On July 22nd 2007, after 4 years of operating online exclusively, They opened a brick and mortar retail store in Vancouver, British Columbia.

They quickly outgrew the space and, on April 1st 2011, moved our business to a bigger location on Vancouver’s trendy Main street.

Roller derby is a tough and exciting sport that is growing in popularity. If you’re looking to join a team or start your own, then Rolla Skate Club is the perfect place to do it.

At their rink, you can take classes to learn the basics of the sport, join an existing team, or start your own.

Moreover… They also have all the equipment you need to get started, including skates and safety gear.

3. City Skate Plaza

City Skate Plaza

The Shipyard Commons outdoor skate plaza is the region’s largest outdoor skating rink. The rink is located on the waterfront at The Shipyards, and is set against the beautiful backdrop of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains.

During seasonal operations, the skate plaza offers daily skating, as well as free helmets and skate aides. Those with their own skates skate for free.

FYI: They do offer roller skaters to skate around their skating rink!

4. Mahon Skate Park

The Lonsdale Skate Park was closed on March 28, 2022 to allow for construction of the new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre (HJCRC).

A new skate park will be delivered as part of the project, to be complete in 2025.

Roller Dance Owl is a growing skate company that offers In-person and Online lessons, Triple Skate Certification program for instructors (18+) and leaders (under 18).

6. Kensington Skateboard Park

Kensington skateboard park

This concrete 6000 ft² skate park is a pool-style bowl that is 9.5 feet at the deep end (with 1 foot of vertical) and 5 feet deep at the shallow end.

The park also includes a mini-ramp and amphitheatre-style ledges.

Location

Kensington skateboard park is in Kensington Park behind the Kensington Community Centre, by East 37th and Knight Streets.
